Star Wars Trilogy [6 Disc]

I purchased my advance tickets for Episode III, The Revenge of the Sith today. I am very excited.... However, I know that I will find this movie tragic, sad and dark. Thankfully, I will be able to console myself with the fact that I can come home and watch Episodes IV, V, and VI and find a happy ending. I am going to see it with my four brothers at midnight (with all of the other Star Wars freaks).... it should be very fun. I will write about the experience soon, that is, once I see it!

In case you didn't know, I really like Star Wars. It was inevitable when I was younger. For one reason, I was outnumbered, 4 to 1. I wasn't like I could talk my brothers into watching The Little Mermaid over and over with me! Secondly, Jonathan loved them and you can't be around him without being caught up or completely informed about whatever he is most infatuated with at the moment. Thirdly, they are A-mazing. I enjoy them for what they are.... DARN GOOD STUFF!

Yes... you can say it. I am a huge nerd. Thank you. That is all.

Presenting Dion & the Belmonts/Runaround Sue

I will now tell you a sad tale... about a sweet little baseball player with beautiful blue eyes and incredibley long eyelashes... and about how his team fought for the champoinship in the little league playoffs.

We will call the team the Texas Rangers, an 8 and 9 year-old machine pitch team for Nasa Area Little League, and we shall call the little boy Luke Crites. Luke, a natural leader on his team, played first base.

It was Friday night, 7:45 p.m. at the Nasa Area baseball field. We were sitting behind right field in our fold out chairs. The whole family was there... cheering on the team, quite loudly. We remained dedicated fans even when they didn't always win. The Rangers, with there shirts untucked and rally caps on, and there team of coaches, the pitching coach being my dad, were a joy to watch.

After each inning, the head coach would walk around with a bag of M&M's shouting "Who needs a sugar kick?! Come on Rangers, let's get our sugar fix!" From the dugout, the team would cheer for their batter, say for example... Adison... " (leader) WHEN I SAY ADISON YOU SAY HIT! ADISON! (the team) HIT! (leader) ADISON! (the team) HIT! (leader) ADISON, ADISON, ADISON! (the team) HIT, HIT, HIT! (everyone) HIT ADISON, HIT!

Our opponent was the infamous Mets. The Mets (said in a bitter tone) had crisp uniforms, and team moms holding garrishly painted banners... with their cocky coaches who allowed no mistakes... ever. Their first baseman missed nothing... no matter where his teammates threw the ball, he stretched to catch it, even doing the splits once, and always remained on the bag. I must admit that he was an excellent first baseman.

The Rangers played some solid defense and made three fantastic plays to shut out the Mets. Three up, three down. Several of our boys hit in the park homeruns, with two hitting out of the park home runs. Go Alex and Jaime! The Rangers played a fantastic game... keeping their 5 run lead until the bottom of the 5th (little league only plays 6 innings). From their... it started to go bad. They maintained their lead through the bottom of the sixth... The fans for each team were screaming. It was down to one out. One out away from the Rangers winning. However, the Mets had the homefield advantage, meaning if they came ahead at bat, the game would be over. 2 strikes on the batter, 2 runners on base... one one 2nd and one on 3rd. If the Mets score 2 runs.. they win. Please Rangers! Make the catch! Get the last out! Batter hits solid into the hole between our center and right field.... giving the runners enough time to run the bases, thus scoring the two runs... to win the game.

It was just one out. For some reason, the Rangers, who had outplayed the Mets the ENTIRE game could not get it together. The boys on the Mets jump and scream and run out onto the field to congratulate their teammates who scored them the needed runs. The Rangers, most of them in tears, line-up immediately to high-five their opponents. The coaches of the Mets are screaming and jumping one of them running onto the field and throwing himself to the ground with his hands in the air saying "Thank you God!" (I am all for thanking God... don't get me wrong.. but he was making a horrible display while my little Rangers are crying and waiting on them to line up!) It took several minutes for the Mets to stop their victory dance and line up. The Rangers were crying in earnest now... patiently waiting on the Mets to slap hands. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO OUTRAGED IN MY LIFE! The Mets did not deserve that game. They had a better record than the Rangers.. .but the Rangers FAR outplayed them. Several other families from different games came by and asked who was winning, and when they heard we were beating the Mets, they were shocked. "Wow, your team must be playing hard. The Mets are good." Yeah. They did play hard. Then they had to watch as the Mets flaunted it in their faces.

I will tell you that I shed several tears for this team. I hate to see little kids disappointed. Especially when one of them is tenderhearted little Lukey. I don't care what those Mets did all season long... the Rangers were the better team last night.

The final blow came this morning, when Luke found out he didn't make the All-Star team. He played so well all season long. But you see, first baseman are always suspected to catch everything thrown at them, no matter who or how it was thrown. It is easier to think that an outfielder who catches a few pop-ups is an excellent ball player. First baseman always have to catch the ball... and when you are consistent, you are always expected to perform at the same level. Poor Luke Crites. Just can't catch a break.

My mom always tells us when stuff like that happens that we are "building character"... well, Luke sure built some character last night. However, I have never been so proud of a team. They played hard and did their best. I just hate it... I feel so sorry for them, to work so hard and then one or two errors ruins turn the tide. I guess that is all it takes. One or two errors...

GO RANGERS! I LOVE YOU LUKE CRITES! YOU ARE MY FAVORITE FIRST BASEMAN!
